Fashion magazine front cover evaluation

 

For my fashion magazine I decided that my target audience would be based around 16 to 21 year olds. My background image I went for the model look because of my research I found that the best-selling magazines had a face on the cover that people recognise for celebrity endorsement. So my chosen colour scheme was different shades of pink, white and lilac I chose this because it was a range of feminine colours and also the colours contrasted well from the black background. When doing my background photo I had an issue of the photo not being big enough so the copy would have blocked the photo. So I was inspired by some research I found where the background was really dark with light coloured copy on top then I edited my original photo dark and applied a black border round the outside.  I added a free Winter Beauty Tips booklet to entice the target audience because magazines such as Cosmopolitan usually give away freebies. The mast heading for the font I used was Copperplate Gothic Bold because it was bold and stood out and was more superior to the copy. I added the price cost with the yellow circle around it because I found that after some research of other magazine covers that the yellow stood out more and caught the audience’s attention. I added the barcode to make the magazine seem more realistic. I added an additional pink bar at the top saying ‘BRITAIN’S No1 FASHION MAGAZINE’ because how the magazine is displayed standing up in a shop that would be the first thing the audience will see. My favourite thing about my magazine is how the mast head and copy stands out from the black background.  I really like the colour scheme because it’s so girly and that’s basically what the magazine is. If I could change my magazine I would probably change my background photo because I wanted the magazine to seem happier and lighter to do a magazine for summer rather than winter.  

 

 

To grab the audiences attention I've added a free Winter Beauty Tips booklet as shown underneath. So it entices the audience as you get the top fashion and top makeup this season.
